BUPA contract for Weston Carpets

Release date: December 2003

Client: Weston Carpets

Title: BUPA contract for Weston Carpets

Weston Carpets’ Décor-Care is the standard carpet in the new interior design schemes created for BUPA Care Homes by designer Jill Johnson.

Weston Carpets has been awarded a contract to supply bedroom carpet to BUPA Care Homes across the UK.

Weston Décor-Care will be the standard bedroom carpet in a number of new design schemes created by interior designer Jill Johnson for rooms in BUPA care homes. The scheme for each room will feature complementary wall colours, carpet and soft furnishings.

"Décor-Care was chosen after an exhaustive selection process which involved meeting criteria set by the client, focussing on appearance, performance and price," said Weston Carpets contract sales manager Neil Barker. "We also carpeted trial areas to allow the material to be evaluated in use by the client."

"When we developed the product we wanted to move away from the institutional look that many healthcare carpets had and produce a practical carpet with a plainer look. I think we’ve achieved that."

Available in any width up to 4 metres and in 12 colourways, Weston Décor-Care is a 100% polypropylene, 1/8" gauge, tufted twist pile broadloom contract carpet. It features a fully impervious contract latex backing, is bleach-resistant and easy to clean, making it ideal for use in the healthcare market. Décor-Care conforms to EEC Environmental Standards and carries the GUT Green Thread label.

Carpet for the BUPA Care Homes contract will be supplied in three colours from stock, together with two colours specially manufactured for BUPA Care Homes.

"We are delighted to win this prestigious contract," added Neil Barker. "Weston has a wealth of experience in the healthcare market and Décor-Care is just one of a number of our any-width contract carpets ideally suited to this use."

Weston offers the flexibility of the any-width carpet option on many of its contract and domestic ranges. These lines are available in any width up to 4 metres, or on some, 5 metres, in 1cm increments. This means no unsightly carpet joins, ease of fitting and economy for the customer.

BUPA Care Homes manages 245 homes across the country, providing accommodation for 15,000 residents.
