Double Strike for Axminster

Release date: February 2003

Client: Axminster carpets

Title: Double Strike For Axminster

When it comes to choosing carpet for leisure installations, Axminster Carpets Ltd are on the ball.

The Newbury based Ten Pin bowling organisation, Go Bowling, specified a heavy duty 80/20 wool / nylon bespoke Axminster from Axminster for two of their bowling centres, at Dunstable and Fareham, where a total of 1000 square metres are now installed in the public areas.

To maximise performance and minimise maintenance in these busy areas, Axminster’s Contract Designer Gary Bridge, created a practical multi-directional pin-dot effect in Go Bowling’s corporate colours on a two-tone salt and pepper dark blue ground.

Utilising the special facilities of Axminster’s Electronic Jacquard gripper looms enabled the company to plan and weave a unique non-repeating design to significantly reduce the normal wastage of carpet fitted in irregular shaped areas.

The installation was undertaken by Linney Cooper using the new Axfelt 65 triple-layer underlay.
