Livery Company Choose Axminster

Charged today with the training and development of the master craftsman skills of fine plasterwork, The Worshipful Company of Plaisterers utilised their knowledge and heritage in the refurbishment of their Livery Hall — the largest in London.

The conference complex adhered faithfully to the elegant 18th century style of Robert Adam, even to using original plaster ceiling moulds, and Axminster Carpets Ltd were briefed to replicate the style and ambience of the interior in their carpet design...

Axminster carpets have been made in Axminster, Devon since 1755, not surprising then that Axminster Carpets Ltd, no stranger to the tradition of exquisite design and the requirements of historic buildings, supplied over 1300 sq metres of Super 8 pitch Axminster from their state-of-the-art electronic looms.

Working closely with D. Luckham Consultants, Axminster Carpets created special Adam style designs in 80% wool / 20% nylon carpet for the five main areas:

The project consisted of a circular Adam style design with co-ordinating borders for the reception and smaller meeting rooms, a large Adam panel for the impressive Livery Hall and The Great Hall, and carpet for the main Conference and Banqueting rooms.

The technical sophistication of the whole project was exemplified by the reproduction of the 14 colour crest of the Plaisterers, woven into the entrance carpet which again had its own smaller border.
